During the first summer semester of my Masters (I started in May 2019), I have conducted a small study with 6 participants over surveys to understand what parents understand about their DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) children, as well as their thoughts around hearing loss simulations. This lead to my first publishing which was a conference poster paper, and I presented at ASSETS 2019 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania of USA. This experience lead me to a lot of learning as well as my research direction.
During my winter co-op of 2018, I was an undergraduate research assistant for Laura Gatto, who was a PhD student at the time. We conducted research on the gender wage gap in the university sector of Ontario, and published it as a conference paper. That led to us presenting our research at Social Informatics 2018 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
During my first semester at my university back in 2014, I was part of the UNIV*1200 class where we learned about the relationship between our planet Earth and the plants we had growing. At the end of the fall semester, we got to choose a paper topic of our own (I looked into using algae to fuel airplanes) to present and write, as well as presenting our final poster in the library to the sponsers of UNIV*1200.
